Megapoxy MC2 Instructional Video
Product Overview
Megapoxy MC2 is a rapid-set heavy-duty maintenance coating for many types of applications. It is stocked in a range of colors and is available in conveniently prepackaged 5 and 20 kg kits with a simple 3:1 mix ratio.
Surface Preparation
Before you begin mixing, you’ll need to ensure that all contact surfaces like metal, concrete, and stone are clean and clear of oil, dust, and any other surface contaminants. Concrete and stone surfaces should be prepared by grinding the surface and removing all the dust and debris. This helps ensure effective bonding contact. Concrete surfaces should be ground back or, as a minimum, acid etched to ensure effective bonding contact. As with all epoxy resins, please wear appropriate PPE including eyewear, gloves, and clothing when mixing and applying the product.
Mixing
Megapoxy MC2 is a low-viscosity, heavy-duty maintenance coating. It has a half-hour work time with a 24-hour cure at 25°. With Megapoxy MC2, we recommend 3 minutes of mixing. Give it a slight mix prior to adding the Part B. When initially mixing the Megapoxy MC2, make sure you are mixing quite slowly—no whipping of the product—to reduce the amount of air entrapment.
While mixing, make sure you are rubbing the base of the container and into the corners to get all the unmixed product off the bottom and out of the corners of the tin. After mixing for 2 minutes, you should have a nice, even-looking mix. Scrape all the sides of the container again to remove any unmixed product. After scraping the sides, mix for one further minute. Make sure not to mix vigorously up and down, as this puts air entrapment through the product. Use nice, even mixing for the final minute.
Once mixed for the full 3 minutes, the Megapoxy MC2 is a nice uniform color and ready to use.
Applications
Megapoxy MC2 is recommended for corrosion protection and as a floor coating for automotive workshops, kitchens, warehouses, and many other types of coating applications. MC2 is ideal for waterproofing walls and floors, food and beverage production surfaces, decorative surfaces, and abrasion resistance.
Application Method
Applying Megapoxy MC2 is easy and fast. Uncured MC2 can be cleaned with Megapoxy thinners. It will cure stronger than concrete with excellent chemical resistance. It can be applied by brush, roller, or airless spray equipment. We recommend a three-coat application when used in particularly aggressive and harsh environments.
Fine aggregate can be applied before curing. This can either be left as is for an aggressive non-slip surface or can be recoated with Megapoxy MC2 to create a less aggressive non-slip surface. Be sure to allow time for curing between coats.
