Megapoxy MC Instructional Video
Product Overview
Megapoxy MC is a heavy-duty maintenance coating for many types of applications. It is stocked in a range of colors and is available in conveniently prepackaged 5 and 20 kg kits with a simple 3:1 mix ratio by volume.
Surface Preparation
Before you begin mixing, you’ll need to ensure that all contact surfaces like metal, concrete, and stone are clean and clear of oil, dust, and any other surface contaminants. Concrete and stone surfaces should be prepared by grinding the surface and removing all the dust and debris. This helps ensure effective bonding contact. Concrete surfaces should be ground back or, as a minimum, acid etched to ensure effective bonding contact. As with all epoxy resins, please wear appropriate PPE including eyewear, gloves, and clothing when mixing and applying the product.
Mixing
Megapoxy MC is a low-viscosity heavy-duty maintenance coating. It has a work time of 2 hours and a 24-hour cure at 25°. For large projects, Megapoxy MC is available in a 20 kg kit, and for smaller projects or working on your own, it is also available in 5 kg kits.
Megapoxy MC has a recommended mix time of 5 minutes—initially 3 minutes, followed by a further 2 minutes after scraping the sides and removing unmixed product. When mixing Megapoxy MC with a mechanical mixer, do not exceed 200 RPM.
After the first 3 minutes of mixing, scrape the sides and get any unmixed product off the sides before continuing with the final 2 minutes of mixing. Once the full 5 minutes of mixing is completed, the Megapoxy MC will be a nice uniform gray and ready to use.
Applications
Megapoxy MC is recommended for corrosion protection and as a floor coating for automotive workshops, kitchens, warehouses, and many other types of coating applications. MC is ideal for waterproofing walls and floors, food and beverage production surfaces, decorative surfaces, and abrasion resistance.
Application Method
Applying Megapoxy MC is easy and fast. Uncured MC can be cleaned with Megapoxy thinners. It will cure with excellent chemical resistance. It can be applied by brush, roller, or airless spray equipment. We recommend a three-coat application when used in particularly aggressive and harsh environments.
Fine aggregates can be broadcast between coats. They can be applied before curing as you roll. This can either be left as is for an aggressive non-slip surface or can be recoated with Megapoxy MC to create a less aggressive non-slip surface.
Megapoxy MC is best applied in multiple thin coats. It is not recommended to be applied in a single thick coat or for filling chips or holes in floors. If you want to apply thick coats and fill chips and holes while coating, Megapoxy MC2 is recommended for this type of application. Be sure to allow 8 hours for curing between coats.
