Megapoxy HX Instructional Video
Product Overview
Megapoxy HX is a solvent-free, extra–low-viscosity hydrophilic epoxy resin for many types of bonding and filling applications. It is clear and suitable for surfaces in contact with food or potable water, and is available in conveniently prepackaged 4 L and 20 L kits with a simple 3:1 mix ratio.
Surface Preparation
Before you begin mixing, you’ll need to ensure that all contact surfaces like metal, concrete, and stone are clean and clear of oil, dust, and any other surface contaminants. Concrete and stone surfaces should be prepared by grinding the surface and removing all the dust and debris. This helps ensure effective bonding contact. Compressed air can be used to remove dust from cracks and holes. Clean metal surfaces with acetone to remove any oils or contaminants. Megapoxy HX is VOC free. As with all epoxy resins, please wear appropriate PPE including eyewear, gloves, and clothing when mixing and applying the product.
Mixing
Megapoxy HX is an extra–low-viscosity liquid epoxy resin. It has a 60-minute work time with a minimum cure time of 24 hours at 25°. Megapoxy HX has a mix ratio of three parts A to one part B by volume. It is a very thin, watery liquid and very easy to mix.
We recommend mixing for 3 minutes using a timer. As you mix, you can see differences in the resin—it starts to go milky and should go from clear, to milky, and back to clear. While mixing for the first 2 minutes, make sure to scrape the bottom of the container and get into all the sides and edges. Even though Megapoxy HX mixes quite quickly, you still need to scrape the sides of the container and the spatula to get any unmixed products into the mix.
Once the Megapoxy HX has been mixed thoroughly so that it is nice, clear, and streak-free, it is ready for use.
Applications
Megapoxy HX is recommended for concrete crack injection, repairs, and casting. Applying Megapoxy HX is easy and fast. Uncured HX can be cleaned with Megapoxy thinners. It will cure even in cold or damp conditions. Stronger than concrete with good chemical resistance, it can be applied by paintbrush directly onto cracks or poured using a plastic dispensing bottle.
