One proven technique helping meet these demands is spot fixing. By applying small amounts of non-sag adhesive (like Megapoxy PM or PF) evenly on the back of each panel – typically covering 10% of the surface – panels bond tightly to the substrate. The ventilated cavity created behind the panels helps manage moisture, improve thermal performance and reduce noise transfer.
This fast, discreet system was ideal for an upmarket apartment project in Killara, NSW, where stackstone cladding was installed over uneven precast concrete. Megapoxy PM enabled accurate placement on the out-of-plumb surface, with permanent bonds and no visible fixings – for peace of mind in a high-use pedestrian zone.
For heavier materials or taller facades, epoxy can be combined with stainless steel anchors or wire ties to form hybrid systems. This adds confidence while maintaining a clean architectural finish, especially useful where wind load, movement and safety are key concerns.
Versatility of epoxy resin systems
Epoxy adhesives are used across a wide range of facade materials, including natural stone, engineered stone, fibre cement and large-format panels.
Epoxy resin formulations are also valuable for prefabrication and restoration. For fragile or sensitive stone panels, products like Megapoxy HX are used to seal hairline cracks, reinforce slabs before transport, or bond mesh backing for added resilience.
Epoxy adhesives also offer a smart, compatible solution for fixing facade materials to waterproofed substrates like concrete or fibre cement sheeting. Standard adhesives often fail in these conditions, while mechanical fixings can damage the waterproof membrane. On many projects, Megapoxy H acts as both a waterproofing layer and bonding primer, allowing panels to be spot-fixed with Megapoxy PM or PF without compromising the seal, even on curved or uneven surfaces.
This approach was used in a coastal project on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, where heavy sandstone panels were fixed to compressed fibre cement, including curved sections. The team applied Megapoxy H with fine aggregate to waterproof and strengthen the sheeting, then spot-fixed the panels using Megapoxy PM White.
