How to Use
Megapoxy MC2 is a rapid-set, heavy-duty maintenance coating for many types of applications.
It is stocked in a range of colours and is available in conveniently pre-packaged 5kg and 20kg kits with a simple 3:1 mix ratio by volume.
It has a 30-minute work time and a 24-hour cure time at 25ºC.
Surface Preparation
Before you begin mixing, you need to ensure that all contact surfaces like metal, concrete and stone are clean and clear of oil, dust and any other surface contaminants.
Concrete surfaces should be ground back or as a minimum, acid etched, washed and allow to fully dry to ensure effective bonding contact.
Safety and PPE
As with all epoxy resins, please wear appropriate PPE, including eyewear gloves and clothing.
Mixing
IMPORTANT. Only make a suitable quantity that can be used within the 30-minute work time!
Additional batches can be mixed after the previous is mixed and applied, even as it cures.
The recommended mixing time for Megapoxy MC2 is 3 minutes. First, mix for 2 minutes, then scrape the sides and mix for another minute until the product is completely uniform in colour.
Place the Part A tin on a flat and steady surface. Secure it with sandbags and open the lid. Pour the full contents of Part B into the Part A tin.
Set a timer for 2 minutes. Place the mechanical mixing head into the Part A tin – right to the base, then begin slowly mixing (no more than 200 RPM) so as not to drag air into the product.
Avoid any up-down or vigorous movements and make sure that you’re rubbing across the bottom of the container and into the corners to gather any un-mixed product.
After 2 minutes, using a flat edge tool, scrape the sides of the container to remove any unmixed product from the sides.
Set a timer for 1 minute and resume mixing. Once the product has been mixed thoroughly, it should be a uniform colour with no streaks.
Application
Megapoxy MC2 is recommended for corrosion protection; floor coating for automotive workshops; kitchens; warehouses; and many other types of coating applications. MC2 is ideal for waterproofing walls and floors; food and beverage production surfaces; decorative surfaces; and abrasion resistance.
It can be applied by brush, roller or airless spray equipment. Cut-in edges with a brush before roller coating. We recommend a three-coat application when used in particularly aggressive or harsh environments.
Fine aggregates can be broadcast between coats. It can be applied before curing as you roll. These can either be left as is for an aggressive non-slip surface or can be re-coated with Megapoxy MC2 to create a less aggressive non-slip surface.
For bulk mixing, ensure that all your tools, along with the Part A and Part B containers, are ready for mixing, but do not combine them or mix multiple batches at once. Only make your second batch once the first has been applied.
Two thin roller coats will give the best result. Ensure you leave time for the first coat to set (4 hours) before applying the second coat.
Clean-up
Uncured Megapoxy MC2 can be cleaned with Megapoxy Thinners.
Please Dispose of contents and container in accordance with local, regional, national and international regulations.
Finishing
Although applying Megapoxy MC2 is easy and fast, it will cure stronger than concrete with excellent chemical and impact resistance. It can be machined, sanded and polished to a fine finish.
