Extend asset life and avoid repeat repairs with marine epoxy systems matched to the job.
Marine structures and vessels face constant exposure to water, salt, weather, movement and wear. Without the right protection, repairs can be frequent, costly and disruptive – and deterioration can increase safety risks.
Purpose-formulated marine epoxy systems provide solutions for construction, repair, rehabilitation and protection above and below the water.
Why purpose-formulated marine epoxy?
Marine-grade epoxy solutions are formulated specifically for wet, corrosive and highly exposed conditions. For specifiers and asset owners, the right marine epoxy can significantly extend service life while helping minimise repeat repairs, maintenance, downtime and whole-of-life costs.
On the job, two-part systems simplify application and reduce storage, handling and equipment needs – particularly where space and access are limited.
Marine epoxy across the marine environment
Marine epoxy systems are used across vessels, marine infrastructure and below-water applications.

- Boatbuilding and repairs
Structural bonding, timber deck repairs, component bonding and gap filling. - Hull repair and rehabilitation
Crack injection, patching damaged sections and hull restoration. - Piers, piles and underwater work
Pile rehabilitation, structural grouting, void filling and repairs in submerged and tidal-zone conditions. - Marine floors and decks
Floor & deck coatings, sealing, wear and weather protection and surface repairs.

Marine epoxy for cracked hulls
High-quality hull repair is vital to stop water ingress, corrosion and long-term damage.
Extra-low-viscosity epoxy resins like Megapoxy HX are suited to crack injection, penetration and filling. Its high flow allows it to travel into fine cracks and confined spaces rather than simply repairing the visible surface.
For a ferro-cement yacht repair in South Australia, Megapoxy’s crack injection repair system was used to repair and strengthen the cracked hull. Injection balloons were bonded along the crack lines using Megapoxy PM, before high-flow HX was injected through them to penetrate deep into the cracks. The result: a highly targeted structural fix.

Marine epoxy for piers, piles and wharves
Piers, piles and wharves perform the critical work of supporting ports, vessels and waterfront operations – but face relentless exposure below the waterline. The right marine epoxy system can restore and protect deteriorating marine structures, helping reduce safety risks, extend useful life and defer the cost and disruption of replacement.
- Hydrophilic resins bond to damp, wet and submerged substrates.
- High-build gels can fill and bond on vertical, overhead and underwater surfaces.
- Heavy-duty epoxy grouts provide the strength needed to fill structural voids and rehabilitate piles.
At the busy Geelong Port, Megapoxy 206 Ultra Grey was selected to restore the structural capacity of deteriorated timber piles supporting critical wharf and jetty infrastructure. Damage was caused by marine borers, rot, erosion and voids within the timber – and the repair system had to stand up to a tidal, semi-submerged environment. With its hydrophilic, water-displacing formulation, it’s estimated that 206 Ultra helped extend the service life of the piles by at least 50 years.

Marine epoxy for floors and decks
Marine floors and decks need to stand up to constant foot traffic, water, cleaning and abrasion. The right epoxy coating creates a hard-wearing, seamless surface, with slip resistance added where needed.
Abrasion-resistant systems such as Megapoxy 132 suit floors and decks exposed to regular wear, while high-build coatings such as Megapoxy MC and MC2 add resistance to chemicals and impact. Fine aggregate can also be incorporated to create a textured, slip-resistant finish.
When it came to removing the worn vinyl on the steel kitchen floor of a leading cruise operator, epoxy resin was chosen for its durability and movement tolerance. Megapoxy MC2 was used to coat the steel, sealing and insulating the area. While still wet, fine aggregate was sprinkled evenly across the surface to create a textured finish with anti-slip properties. Two further coats of Megapoxy MC2 – in stylish Mid Grey – were then applied and allowed to cure. The result was a decorative, hygienic, dust-free, non-slip coating that’s a breeze to clean.
