Strength on tap: revitalised brewery flooring and drainage
Client needs + challenges
- High-temperature resistant, robust and durable floor.
- Seamless blend between restored and existing flooring.
- Well-functioning, properly sealed drainage system.
- Easy-to-clean surface for a busy brewery.
- Efficient and reliable fix to minimise downtime.
Solutions, service + simplicity
We worked closely with North Constructions and Floorgard to simplify the process, guiding the right solutions and application methods for a smooth and successful result.
Preparing surfaces
- Loose and delaminating epoxy coating was removed from the affected floor area and drain.
- After removing plastic residue, the drain was ground back to fresh concrete.
- Remaining affected floor coatings were ground off, up to 200mm from the brewery tanks.
- Adjacent floor areas were cleaned and abraded for a seamless blend with the restored area.
Drain grate, drain & puddle flange
- Concrete around the drain was cut to install a steel grate bracket, which was secured with Megapoxy HT, an epoxy gel adhesive with high temperature and chemical resistance.
- Soft epoxy around the puddle flange was removed, the area cleaned, and packed with our high-strength paste, Megapoxy P1.
- The drain interior was primed with Megapoxy H, followed by a high-strength epoxy mortar mix (Megapoxy H and sand) shaped for optimal drainage, and sealed with another Megapoxy H layer.
Final coatings
- A mix of Megapoxy MC (Part A) and Megapoxy H (Part B) was applied across the drain, affected floor and adjacent concrete, creating a fully sealed, seamless, and durable finish.
Standout benefits
- Stronger, longer-lasting flooring built for brewery conditions.
- Better drainage to prevent water pooling, damage and safety risks.
- A level, safe, ridge-free transition between existing and new floor areas.
- Concrete reinforcement around drains for smooth flow of loaded pallet jacks.
- Resistant to high temperatures, spills, stains and chemicals.
Easy to clean and low maintenance, saving time and effort.
