Marine epoxy solutions

Marine-grade epoxy for tough conditions

Megapoxy’s marine epoxy adhesives, fillers and coatings are purpose-made for wet, salty and high-moisture environments. They bond effectively to damp or even submerged substrates. From boatyards to breakwaters, our marine epoxy resin withstands water and weather – and is trusted by fabricators, boat builders, repairers and coastal asset managers.

The role of epoxy in marine environments

Saltwater, UV and constant movement take a heavy toll on vessels and coastal structures. Without the right protection, repairs become frequent, costly and disruptive – and safety risks intensify when assets deteriorate. Our marine-grade epoxy resists corrosion, seals against water seepage and maintains strength under dynamic loads. The result is longer service life, reduced maintenance, and protection for crews and critical marine assets.

Benefits

  • Formulas that cure underwater
  • Superior strength across common marine materials (fiberglass, timber, metal, composites)
  • Exceptional water and corrosion resistance
  • Excellent chemical resistance (fuel and solvents)
  • Low shrinkage
  • Expert advice and support
  • Ready supply for large-scale jobs and emergency repairs
  • Improved safety and performance
  • Long-lasting protection and value
  • Options to repair without dry-docking

Megapoxy at work

From boats and vessels to jetties and pontoon piling, our marine grade epoxy systems are used across the world.

  • Laminate fibreglass or composites – to create hulls, decks and other components.
  • Coat boats and their parts (hulls, floors, decks) – to form a lasting protective barrier.
  • Repair and maintain – by filling cracks and rectifying hull damage or water intrusion.
  • Bond and attach components – such as keels, ballast or onboard equipment.
  • Timber deck repairs and sealing – protecting exposed surfaces against wear and weather.
  • General maintenance in coastal environments – ensuring long-term protection for piers, docks and marine infrastructure.

Proven and trusted in the marine world

For more than 50 years, Megapoxy has supplied marine epoxy resin tested in docks, shipyards and coastal assets across the globe. Formulated in Australia and validated in harsh marine environments, our products are backed by fast availability and expert support. Marine Epoxy FAQs: Saltwater resistance, bonding & application

What is marine epoxy, and how is it different from standard epoxy adhesives?

Marine epoxy is formulated to perform in wet, salty, and high-moisture conditions. Megapoxy marine-grade systems cure reliably on damp and, in some case, submerged surfaces, with added resistance to water, corrosion and chemical exposure.

Which Megapoxy products are best for boatbuilding, timber bonding and hull repairs?

We offer a versatile marine epoxy range to cover bonding, coating and repair needs. Adhesives like Megapoxy 69 and Megapoxy HT provide strong bonds in water-exposed environments, while coatings such as Megapoxy MC or Megapoxy MC2 deliver long-lasting protection. For structural repairs, our crack injection system has been proven in applications such as ferro-cement yacht hulls, restoring strength and durability under demanding conditions. Our solution selector can help you pinpoint the right products for your project.

Can your marine epoxy adhesives bond to fibreglass, aluminium, timber, or composite materials?

Yes. We offer a range of marine epoxy adhesives designed to bond effectively with common substrates such as fibreglass, timber, aluminium and composites. Suitability depends on the product and application, so it’s important to check the technical datasheet and use our solution selector for more specific recommendations.

Are Megapoxy products suitable for saltwater exposure, immersion, and harsh coastal conditions?

Yes. Many of our marine-grade systems are purpose-made for saltwater immersion, wet and damp surfaces, and long-term use in harsh coastal environments. Refer to the product datasheet for suitability to your specific application, use our solution selector or contact us or your local distributor for advice.

Do you offer weather-resistant marine coatings or adhesives?

Absolutely. We have a wide range of weather-resistant adhesive and many of our coatings are formulated with anti-corrosion properties, making them ideal for outdoor, coastal and marine environments. We recommend checking product specifications to match the right solution to your conditions. You can also use our handy solution selector.

Which epoxy fillers or sealants are sandable, paintable or suited for surface finishing?

Megapoxy P1 and Megapoxy PM are used for patching a variety of surfaces before painting. They’re commonly used to fill chips, gaps and imperfections, rebuild edges, and level uneven areas prior to priming and topcoating. Once cured, they can be sanded back to shape for a smooth finish, helping improve coating adhesion and final appearance. Always follow surface prep and recoating guidance in the relevant technical data sheet to suit your substrate and marine exposure conditions.

Can I use Megapoxy for dock, pier, or marina maintenance and structural repairs?

Our marine-grade solutions deliver outstanding adhesion, specially designed formulations, and durability to withstand the harshest marine environment. They have long been used in civil and marine infrastructure, including pier, dock, jetty and pontoon repairs and maintenance. For specific advice, use our solution selector or contact us or your local distributor.

How should I prepare a surface before applying marine epoxy adhesives or coatings?

It’s best to check the technical data sheet of the product you are using for clear instructions on surface preparation. We also have a popular range of how-to videos that take you through the steps for specific applications.
